Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Who all are eligible to participate?
      • Working professionals-clinicians, engineers, biomedical scientist, as well as final year UG/PG students in any discipline are invited apply.
      • Proven capability for innovation is essential;
      • prior exposure to medical field is desirable

     

  2. Why to participate?
      • If you think, you want to make a difference to one’s life
      • If you think, a 9-6 Job is not what you want
      • If you think, to explore new opportunities and avenues
      • If you think, you have the skills that could really add value to the medical device ecosystem

     

  3. What will I do for 4 days as part of the hackathon?
      • You will be able to learn how to identify the right problem to solve, quickly create prototype, get clinical feedback, make business plan.

     

  4. How much is the registration fee for the event?
      • We are charging a nominal fee of Rs. 2500 per participants, which covers access to all sessions, course material, basic kit, and working lunch. Only invited participants need to pay the fees. Partial fee waiver is available for deserving students.

     

  5. Does the event provide transportation?
      • Participants need to make their own travel arrangements.

     

  6. Is any accommodation provided at the venue?
      • Limited accommodation is available near IISc on first-come-first serve basis for a nominal fee.

     

  7. Will all my requests for hackshop materials be available?
      •  We will do our best to provide a wide range of materials for the hackshop. But we cannot guarantee availability of any materials.

     

  8. If i bring my own materials, will be reimbursed?
      • Sorry, we will not be able to reimburse you for any expenses or additional materials incurred

     

  9. Should we participate as an team or Individual?
      • You need to participate as an Individual. The team will be formed during the event and organizers will help in getting you the right team member based on your skills.

     

  10. What would be a typical team composition?
      • Typically we expect a team to have multi-disciplinary skills which should broadly comprise of  individuals who could work with Electronics/IT/Mechanics/Design/Business Management and mentors.

     

  11. What should be included in an Portfolio?
      • Portfolio can include images of past projects/prototypes you have made, artistic works, drawing sketches you have done or maybe poems you have written. Something which allows us to view your creative works not just scholastic achievements.

     

  12. What do I expect after the Hackathon?
      • After the event, you would be confident enough to take a call if you would like to go for a regular job or take the entrepreneurial route? The best teams may be offered fellowships or incubation at BETiC – IIT Bombay or IISc.
