AIEDAM - ZAPSupport-Tutorials - UpgradingProfiles

Tutorials Support > Tutorials > UpgradingProfiles

ZAP has made some major revisions to how it handles member management in the last couple versions. First it tried separating the login information to a separate group from Profiles, and encrypting it. Then it went back to using the Profiles group and simply encoding the information. I plan to stay with this last choice as it makes things much easier.

Fortunately, ZAP is smart enough to tell whether a password is encrypted, encoded or plain text, and authenticate your members appropriately. You can also continue to encrypt passwords if desired.

If you have membership from ZAP 2007-01, (or even FAST Data) ZAP can be configured to still use these pages gracefully. Simply change the Login group on your Site.ZAPConfig page to wherever your existing login information is. It should work properly. If it is in the field="var" format you will need a special PTV filter key. Ask Pm about it.

Also, at some point it may be helpful to create a ZAP conversion extension which would allow you to move all membership information to the right group and/or reset it to the right format to take advantage of the present default setup. I may do that at some point as I still have several hundred pages using an older format.
